Sharla's depth, development, plot, and characters are beyond stunning. I lived these characters; each page, each word, each impression had me feeling as though I was right there in the same room as Noah and Jules. Don't Let Go is raw and it is gritty. Their past is absolutely stuttering, it is heart wrenching, and it left me aching in agony from being emotional ripped wide open. I had to walk away quite a few times in order to catch my breath and dry away the tears so I could continue on. Our MCs may not affect others the way they did me and that is ok; every book holds a different meaning for each reader. These two complex and intricate characters slammed into me taking me for a wild ride as their hostage. They refused to let me go until they wrung every last emotion they could out of me and they did it with one hell of a lasting impression. I cannot imagine Noah and Jules' journey being one I will stop thinking about anytime soon; they definitely left me with a major book hangover.
Sharla Lovelace has earned a spot on my automatic authors to buy shelf. She has made that much of an impact with just this one book. At 50%, I knew it would be a five star read, by 75% I was rating it 6+ stars, and I still had 20% to go. I knew the exact moment this book became my favorite read of the year and that was not anywhere close to the end. Don’t Let Go is one book I will be continuously revisiting for many rereads to come.
