From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a new emotional and riveting love story in the first standalone novel in the Arrowood Brothers series.

One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace.
No names.
No promises.
Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and grief.

In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania.

When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I'll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I've fought to forget.

And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen.

Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can't bury the past, and they're right. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core, I have no choice but to watch her walk away again. . .

Oh my Goodness! These Arrowood boys are going to break all of our hearts!  They had a horrible childhood and got out, but now they have no choice to return home for the first time in many years. All of them have some demons to face, and some of them seem to have left some broken hearts along the way. First up is the youngest brother, Connor.

He met a girl on one of the worst nights of his life. She provided an escape and became his talisman while he was in the Navy. She was a beautiful angel without a name. But now he is unexpectedly out of the military and having to return home to deal with some family business. He has no desire to be there at all...until he sees her again.

Ellie Walcott is facing her own past pain and new nightmares. But her one bright light is her precocious daughter, Hadley. She is shocked to see him return and find out who he is. And he happened to show up again just when she needed someone.

But their story is full of complications, secrets, and serious situations. She and Hadley need a strong and caring man on their side. And Connor is finally figuring out his new purpose. But dealing with the hard stuff is never easy, and the past has a way of rearing its ugly head.

I adored Connor. Once he set his mind to something, he was determined. He was so sweet, patient, and protective. And Ellie had a lot of issues, but she was starting to gain more confidence and strength. And Hadley was such a vivacious little thing that just lit up their worlds. His brothers Declan, Jacob, and Sean are all very different, but charismatic and also protective of each other.

Their story is tragic, heartfelt, sweet, intense, and powerful. It deals with some hard and real topics. There are a lot of layers and some secrets and surprises. Their backstories are painful and have broken them down, but they are at a crossroads as to whether they stay stuck or try to find to way to move on. The characters have plenty of opportunities for mistakes, growth, and redemption. I was totally invested in their story and was caught up in all of their conflicting emotions.

This is book one in the new Arrowood series. His brothers also show the scars of their childhood and will all have to face them as well. I cannot wait to see them face the women from their past as some of their stories were already teased. I am so excited for Declan's story! And fans of Corinne's work will find a few cameos as well.
