Leo Winter loves his life. He works when he needs money. He rides when he craves freedom. He frequents the local bar when he wants a good time. The Tin Gypsies might be a memory, but the bachelor life he lived with his motorcycle club still suits him fine. So when a one-night stand surprises him at a family barbecue and claims she’s pregnant with his child, he’s certain he’s died and gone to hell.

Cassandra Cline took one night off from her structured life. One. And now her wild fling with the local bad boy has turned her life sideways. Her dreams and academic career are circling the drain, and none of it would have happened if she’d stayed far, far away from Leo.

Except avoiding him is impossible, especially when she’s forced to move home to Clifton Forge, Montana. And he refuses to leave her side when a series of strange accidents put her and their baby at risk. But are they accidents? Or is she standing in the middle of a battlefield she doesn’t understand?

Her only allies are people she barely knows. And a man who has the potential to steal her heart.

If only he’d stop playing the fool.

Oh, Leo. I have always liked him as the good and loyal friend, but in this one I wanted to shake sense into him. He is charismatic and enjoyed his vices of booze and women. But now he has got himself into an unexpected situation and proceeds to act like a jerk for a while. But a lot of his issues had to do with the void of losing the club, Draven, self-worth, and just feeling lost.

Cassandra Cline was the epitome of a good girl. She was studious, reserved, intelligent, and had goals and a big future planned. One questionable decision in a bar changed the course of her life. And being in the wrong place at the wrong time threw another wrench in her boring existence.

Now Cass is tied to Leo and the rest of the former Tin Gypsy crew. But Leo is scared of the changes coming his way and feels unworthy. But Cass does make him want to be a better man even if he does not really believe in himself. But he does take protection seriously. And Cass just wants him to choose her and make a life together, and is dealing with the interruption in her life plans. But she also has a backbone and will stand up for what she needs.

But a series of strange accidents start to add up. Is Leo's past putting them in danger or is it just a series of unfortunate events?

This one has tension, relationship angst, heartfelt moments, mystery, and suspense. There is a sense of foreboding plaguing them and trying to rob them of their chance at happiness. There were a few things that frustrated me or had me shaking my head in this one, but I was still rooting for them. This brings back this whole crazy crew of alphas and their women and all the babies. They are truly a found family. They are there for each other during all the events good and bad...and there are definitely both in this book. Leo got back in my good graces,  and I loved how these opposites helped make the other whole.

It sets up Emmett's book a bit and I cannot wait for the finale of this series, Tin Queen

Leo Winter is settled into his single-hood. As his friends and former MC brothers pair up with their women, he finds himself missing the club days but still not wanting a partner himself. His happy places are on his bike and in the paint room at the garage. Beyond those 2 things, he isn’t looking for more than a good time.

Cassandra Cline isn’t typically a one-night stand kind of girl. She’s focused on school and driven to meet or exceed the goals she’s set for herself and her career. But when she learns she is pregnant her plans change, sending her back to Clifton Forge rather than back to school. Coming to terms with her pregnancy is one thing, but Leo’s reaction to the news has her wishing Clifton Forge was a much bigger town, to make it easier to avoid him.

But as they grapple with their impending parenthood, a series of accidents happen that put Cass and the baby in danger have them both rethinking the situation as they work to stay safe and alive.

I enjoyed watching these two sort out the news of becoming parents. Cass handles it like she handles most challenges: by making a plan. It might not be the plan she saw for herself originally, but she quickly changes gears to begin prepping for the baby’s arrival. Leo, on the other hand, struggles with the idea of being a father. He didn’t have the best role model and isn’t sure he wants that title himself. At times he is a real jerk, but his baggage about family makes it understandable (if still frustrating).

The accidents, from the beginning, looked too connected to be coincidental, which had me a little frustrated at the characters for not making a connection sooner. But the accidents also had me scratching my head wondering who was behind them and which person was the intended target.

This was a fun, tense, (a little) angsty addition to the Tin Gypsy series. I loved getting to know these characters a little better. Leo and Cass have been in the background, and Cass had a rather significant part to play in Scarlett’s story, but seeing them front and center had me falling in love with the both of them. I loved returning to this world. The former Tin Gypsies have maintained the family they built as part of the MC, and though their history isn’t through coming back for them, they are ready to continue to fight for the families they have built on the right side of the law. I can’t wait for the final piece of this series, Tin Queen. The teaser at the end of this book has me itching to find out more about the character who is introduced.
